WHO ARE THE LD30 DEMOCRATS?

You are encouraged to meet some of our current representatives. Our elected representatives have deep roots in our community, so they possess an innate understanding of the residents, the challenges they face every day, and the changes they would like to see in our community.

We’ve accomplished much in our work to elect officials who truly care about our community but there is much work to be done and they can use our help. In order to pass legislation that will make the changes we desire to see and reach closer to meeting our goals, we need to work to win a majority in the AZ House of Representatives and AZ Senate.

The AZ House of Representatives only needs 3 more Democratic candidates elected for the Democratic party to hold a majority, and it’s possible that we could also control the AZ Senate after the election taking place on November 3rd.

If this were to happen, it would be the first time Democrats have had control of the AZ State Legislature in 54 years. There’s also a large chance that Arizona could elect a Democratic candidate for president for the first time in 24 years.

This is why we strive to engage people in the political process and state governance. Only together can we cultivate the change we want to see.

OUR VALUES

We are proud to represent a solid blue district in the state of Arizona whose residents comprise the most diverse community of any district in the state. We have some of the largest populations of refugees, and immigrants with over 50 different languages spoken in the district. We know our diversity is our strength and recognize that there is an ongoing relationship between race and ethnicity and poverty not only in our state, but nationwide as well. That relationship is derived from a history of systemic barriers to opportunity for people of color that has led to the disparity in access to education, housing and healthcare that we are fighting to change.

These obstacles remain embedded in policies that leave people of color far behind. Our district has the lowest median income of any district in the entire state and some of the largest disparities in healthcare in the entire nation.

Our mission is to continue to address these barriers and strengthen our systems and policies so that all of the members in our community have access to the education, healthcare, and the economic security they need to flourish.
